Buenas noches a todos. Para los que hayais llegado directamente a esta entrada os aconsejo leer antes la primera parte “Los peligros de Internet I: La Estafa Nigeriana“ para entender mejor lo que vamos a tratar aquí.

La idea de escribir este artículo surgió cuando uno de estos emails de estafa consiguio pasar los filtros de Gmail. Me quedé sorprendido porque era la primera vez que pasaba y .. decidí investigar.

Este fue su mensaje trampa:

Como yo lo reconocí inmediatamente y quería ver a donde me llevaba todo esto decidí inventarme una historia medianamente creible dando a entender que era una persona que trabajaba en labores humanitarias y que su ofrecimiento me venia especialmente bien. Rapidamente cree la historia del orfanato, diseñe el logotipo de la empresa donde trabajaba (Gibraltar Monkeys) y procedí a responder. Mi intención, inspirado en esta pagina web era obtener una foto suya en una situación ridicula, de ahi el nombre del orfanato Fork & Toy Home (Casa Cuchillo y Juguete). Antes de “acceder al pago” iba a pedirle que se hiciera una foto con los símbolos más representativos de esta casa.

Esto marchaba bien y no quería espantar la liebre, asi que para dar un toque de realismo decidí fingir que estaba ocupado con problemas en el trabajo y que necesitaría unos días para poder atenderle como corresponde. Por si acaso le daba por investigar, decidí escribir el nombre de una calle real situada en Gibraltar para que no tuviera sospecha ninguna, todo muy profesional

Fue malo porque no pude continuar indagando y .. porque no, tambien divirtiendome, se estaba convirtiendo en algo muy entretenido. Lo bueno es desde la perspectiva de las pobres personas que caigan en estos timos. Lo que pasó es que Google tiene implementado un sistema de seguridad muy potente. Como comentaba en el artículo anterior, la inmensa mayoría de estos mensajes son filtrados y probablemente nunca llegues a ver ninguno de estos, pero, previsores que son, incluyen la opcion “Filtrar mensajes como este”, el cual permite avisar a Google de que hay alguien enviando spam, con lo cual lo analizan para añadirlo al filtro o actuar como en este caso cerrando la cuenta al estafador y evitando que más gente pierda su dinero. También esta la opcion ”Denunciar suplantación de identidad” que sirve para los casos de phising, que es otro de los peligros frecuentes, como ya veremos más adelante en otro artículo de esta colección.
